NEW THINGS ARE AFOOT AT YORK'S CENTRE OF CYCLING!

Including our Buy-Back-Bike scheme

We love bicycles: Classic bikes, old bikes, pretty bikes, sporty bikes, fixie bikes, bikes with three wheels, bikes in bits, bikes galore . . . we save bicycles from the jaws of the dragon of the dump, we give them the once over: then apply reconstructive surgery, or allocate them for organ donation so that their parts are used to save other bikes.
It is worthy and enjoyable work. Since 2006 when we began we have saved over 5000 bikes from becoming waste.

Bike Rescue is a Community Interest Company, this means that we trade as a social business for the community’s benefit and the Directors do not own the assets, these also belong to the community. We have a core staff of 9 and many volunteers (contact us if you'd like to join the crew). We have grown massively since we began in 2006. Recently we celebrated our 5000th refurbished bicycle and 2011 has seen the triumphant opening of our ‘Hub Station’ facility at Lendal Bridge. This is a new focal point for cycling in York, with secure parking, showroom, lockers, showers and a community workshop. It’s a very exciting time in a very exciting place.

Bike Rescue is also about people: we endeavor to hand on our hundreds of years of accumulated knowledge, to anyone in the community who needs advice or wants to learn a skill. We believe in hands on learning and provide training opportunities for all and will soon be running a new program of courses. Watch this space for more info or join us on Facebook.

Your Bike Rescue Project needs YOU . . . to donate your old bikes!

As a Community Interest Company we rely on donations from folks like you. Furthermore, as a social business, the majority of revenue goes straight into providing services for the local community. As a result every donation no matter what condition is highly appreciated. So please, get in touch on 01904 733789 or hit the contact us tab at the top of the page and leave us a message.
